Problems with older fridgidaire store?

I have an older fridgidaire electric stove (about 10 years). The lower heating element in the oven burt out When this happened ther was a loud shinging sound and smoke. I had to unplug the stove because the lower element was glowing and very hot. I replaced the element but it doesn't come on. I turned the oven to broil and the top heating element didn't either. The range top burners work but the oven doesnt. What's the problem?
