Why Do Parents Bring Children to Adults Only Parties THEN COMPLAIN About the Adult Conversations and Jokes...?

...taking place in front of the kids?! "Could you please not say that word? Johnny is listening" or "Please don't tell a joke like that in front of my child" I had a party that was very clearly stated to be adults only, and one lady brought her 3 yr old! I spent the whole party making him leave my breakables and my child unfriendly dog alone. He kept tryinig relentlessly to sneak past us into my bedroom and open this dog's crate door. He'd have been seriously bitten if he'd succeeded. I had to make him get out of my fridge, yell at him when he picked up a $200 unicorn, etc. All the while his mother, who is usually sensible, visited with everyone else and left me to deal with him. Another person later actually asked me why I hadn't babyproofed before the party! Because there are not supposed to BE any kids here! The whole evening was spent keeping breakables intact and an uninvited guest not bitten. What was supposed to be fun became a miserable ordeal instead.
