Microsoft Excel - using IF function (or possibly another)?

The best way is to sort firstly by name, and then subtotal (both accessible from the Data menu). Although I use the word subtotal, you can use the average calculation for each change of name - you'll see as you go along. It is easy and you can see at a glance everyone's totals, the average and grand total at the bottom.
