Is "God" the most egregious example of unaccountable authority imaginable?

Of course, Jack, but I take issue with your use of the term egregious. The problem, it seems to me, is that you're confusing heaven with earth. On earth, men have (supposedly) free will and thoroughly destroy any possibility of a perfect world. In heaven, on the other hand, God's rule is absolute, and since He's perfect, so is the society. Of course, I've never been there, and haven't any chance of ever finding out, so all I can do is tell you what the implications of what I've been taught have led me to believe. As for accepting His rule or else, there isn't any "or else". Everybody loves everybody and so there's never any problem with doubt or any hesitation to accept His dictates. It seems a very boring place to me....but, again, I'm just repeating what I've been told. A perfect dictator on earth would be great! He'd never make mistakes; he'd always know the right thing to do; there would never be a miscarriage of justice; no need for politics, lobbyists or political action groups; no graft or corruption. Everyone would pay their taxes....well, you get the idea. Since He knows everything, no one could lie or break the law et cetera, et cetera. I'd vote for Him....of course, there wouldn't be anyone else to vote for. It would be perfect!.....Oh! did I mention that I'm an atheist?
